The United States is the world’s leader in incarceration with 2.2 million people currently in the nation’s prisons or jails—a 500% increase over the past thirty years. Hebrews 13:3 says “continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” Are we currently doing this? Does this passage inform our response to mass incarceration?
